Stunt Night 2026: The Crusader Chapter
By Marley Anthony, Assistant Editor
Since 1909, a popular Homecoming tradition at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has been Stunt Night. Stunt Night is an evening where students tell a UMHB story with members of their class in Walton Chapel. This year, Stunt Night was on Oct. 9 and the theme was The Crusader Chapter, meaning every story had a twist based on a popular story, such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Harry Potter and classic fairy tales.
“This was one of the only events at UMHB I hadn’t been a part of yet, so I wanted to check it off my bucket list,” Junior Rece Black said. Black’s busy schedule kept him from participating. After this year, Black recommends everyone participates to build community and put on a great show. “Being able to be a part of UMHB’s history is really awesome,” Black said.
While the judges were counting votes and choosing a winner, the Homecoming court and winners were announced. The 2026 Homecoming King and Queen were Vaughn York and Abigail Staples. After celebrating the winners, the directors and judges took the stage to announce the sophomore class as the winners of Stunt Night 2026 for their Hobbit inspired performance.
“The work [the sophomore directors] and rest of the cast contributed made our performance so entertaining to watch,” sophomore Callie Cagle said. Cagle complimented the great communication her class maintained. “My favorite part was laughing together because our show was so funny,” Cagle said.
Stunt Night is a great way to make friends and memories at UMHB. To see Homecoming recaps go to The Bells Instagram, @umhb_thebells or the Student Organizations Instagram, @so_umhb.
