Jeffery’s Tree Brings Christmas Hope to Hundreds of Central Texas Children
By Holly Carr, Contributing Writer
Jeffery’s Tree is a non-profit organization serving children in Central Texas.
Founded by Dagne Ameigh in 2011, following her son’s passing, this organization began in his honor to help families in the community.
“Christmas was his favorite holiday, so we decided to honor his memory and continue his selfless service to others by providing Christmas to families in need,” the Jeffery’s Tree website says.
With approximately 22% of children in Bell County being under the poverty line, many families cannot afford Christmas presents. “We served 478 kids last year, and we are aiming to serve over 500 this year. “Ameigh said. With Jeffery’s Tree, parents are able to provide gifts, while still having Christmas spirit for their children. For each child enrolled in the Christmas program, they will receive five to six gifts, consisting of three necessities and three fun items.
Jeffery’s Tree’s most requested donations items are food, hygiene items and underwear, but monetary donations are appreciated.
Donation and volunteer applications are open at jeffreystree.org, with volunteering opportunities from Nov. 23 through Dec. 18 at 14600 FM 2904, Temple, Texas.
