Veterans of Foreign Affairs (VFW) Post 4008 is a nonprofit organization for combat veterans located in Belton, Texas. With around 6,000 posts globally, and 1.4 million members, the VFW has served the military, and veteran community worldwide.
With the goal of being the voice for veterans and their families, the VFW holds many events year-round to support the community throughout the year. “We love doing stuff for the community, and we love the community coming in and helping support us,” Kevin Davis, quartermaster of VFW Post 4008 said. The Belton VFW holds its annual BBQ Rib, Bean, and Cook’s Choice Cook-off, as well as passing out cards during holidays and special occasions to let veterans know they aren’t alone, as well as many other events.
The VFW has teamed up with many mental health organizations such as Give an Hour which gives free mental health services to military members, veterans and their families. “We take care of mainly veterans, and it helped me get involved here, keeping my mind from going to places I didn’t want to go. And to be involved and help people,” Davis said. For 2026, the VFW is advocating $285 million in funding for Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program, as well as improving access to mental health services for veterans.
“I really enjoy our post, and the ways our auxiliary work together. What I like most is that we’re not just here for our veterans. We’re here with community and the youth, and everybody,” Jessica Roses, canteen manager and auxiliary member said.
Anyone can become a VFW social member, which is a non-voting role and offers access to VFW events and facilities. As of February 2026, the signup fee is $1.
