On Thursday March 26 around 10 people lined up on top of the SW H. K Dodgen Loop to protest Donald Trump and show support for the upcoming No Kings Day Protest on Saturday, March 28.

The protest was organized by Invisible CenTex, a grassroots organization building an inclusive community through education and collective action. They partnered with Democracy Bridge Minneapolis; an organization started in 2025. This group helped organize a special I-35 protest to promote No Kings Day protest across multiple states from Minnesota to Texas.

Local resident Teresa Hering said she was in protest against the President Trump current presidency.

“I listen to the lies that Trump keeps telling and that all of his Cabinet seems to go with and it saddens me that we have become a country that nobody likes,” Hering said.

While most were protesting Trump, there was a male counter protester with sign saying “no unicorns” making fun of the upcoming No Kings Day Protest.

“We’re out here to protest things that haven’t existed in the United States since 1776, and I don’t think we should limit ourselves to just protesting against kings. We should also protest against dinosaurs and unicorns because unicorns are very dangerous,” the male counter protester said.

In response to the protest, people driving on I-35 were honking their horns. However, on the off-ramp the reactions varied with some even yelling out their windows.

“It’s been mixed and the sad part about it is most of the obscenities that have been yelled at me are from young people who are too stupid to realize what democracy really means,” Hering said.

The official No Kings Day protest was held on Saturday, March 28 at 1p.m. at the Belton Courthouse.
